So Grateful

I am back from an amazing trip seeing clients and friends in New York, and then co-facilitating a Dance Improvisation Jam at the beautiful Earthdance in rural Massachusetts. The last four days of dancing and celebrating Spring in the Berkshires was rejuvenating and heart filling. And I’m so excited to be back in Salt Lake and to take on the growth of Free Bodied- we found new office space for May 1st at The Ambassador Plaza: 150 S 600 E #7C.

We now have online scheduling, if you’re ready to make a change, get out of pain, and stay out of pain!

I also have 20-Minute Free Consultations, so feel free to schedule one or just pick up the phone and call me at 801.906.3222

As most of you know, I encourage people to decrease their wheat and refined flour intake. But I still love a yummy grass-fed beef burger. So, instead of a bun, I use a large collard green (or 2) to wrap my burger in. It’s surprisingly tasty, and collards are packed with vitamins and nutrients. And collards are also a perfect wrap substitute cause they don’t tear easily!

If you find that raw collards are a little too hard on the stomach, try quickly steaming them before wrapping. Cabbage & large leaf lettuces are other good alternatives to the bun.

Ingredients:
organic collard greens, protruding stem removed (for easy wrapping)
grass-fed (or hormone-free) beef
optional toppings- sauteed onions, avocado, sprouts, lettuce, tomato, ketchup…

Enjoy and experiment with your food!

Are You Prepared to Tackle Spring Allergies Before They Hit?

Every year millions of people suffer from itchy eyes, sneezing, watery noses, scratchy throats, and extra tiredness. And yes, I was one of them. Until I started exploring herbs, supplements, and anything I could do keep my eyes from popping out of my head, I was miserable when spring came around. Sometimes the perscription allergy medicines didn’t even help enough. So, after my years of allergy research and discovering what worked for me, I’m happy to pass on the information I learned..

Get Some Quercetin I particularly like Aller-Response by Source Naturals (which includes other great herbs like Nettle for allergies), or Activated Quercetin. Quercetin works best when you start taking it before allergy season kicks in. That’s why I wanted to get this info out to you ASAP.

Clean Up Your Fuel

Yes, I’m talking about food. Foods that cause inflammation make your allergies worse. Knowing which foods you are sensitive to and then cutting them out of your diet will help your immune system and decrease inflammation. Less inflammation in the body means decreased allergy symptoms. Finding out which foods you are sensitive to is the harder part. I’m happy to help you find out your individual sensitivities, so give me a call and we’ll see if I can help.

Common foods that cause inflammation:

  • grains, especially wheat and refined grains or flours
  • dairy (goat dairy is the easiest to digest)
  • sugar
  • legumes (beans, lentils, peanuts)
  • night shades (potato, tomato, eggplant, bell pepper)

Most people are sensitive to at least one of these food groups, and many times it’s not the whole group. For example, I know I’m sensitive to wheat, but other grains are just fine for me, even though I tend to cut down on those as well.

Being aware of what causes inflammation and imbalance in your body is the most important step. After that, you have a choice, but at least you know what your options are.
